SAM December Challenge

The challenge this month over at Stamp A Memory, was to use this photo as an inspiration to create a layout:

 

I really wasn't sure what I was going to do with this challenge, so in the end I took the blue & white colours from the tablecloth and runner, the white daisies from the centrepieceand and came up with this:

Looks nothing like the photo does it?? But, hey, the photo is only there for inspiration! Sorry the photo is quite dark, but this is the best out of all I took. It's become quite dark and sultry over here in WA at the moment - and I am NOT the best photographer at the best of times!!

Once again, I've made good use of Stampin' Up's punches and dies to create the embellishments for my layout.  I had a lot of white space left on this layout and wasn't too happy with it, so I stamped some petals from the 'Pick A Petal' stamp set (retired but I didn't have the flower image I eanted to use!) to add some colour and interest to the background.

Stamp A Memory November Challenge

The challenge this month over at Stamp-A-Memory is to scrap a double-page layout. these are my favourite layouts to do as you can incorporate lots of photos on the page, PLUS they look good in your album having it fill the whole opening.

I chose to scrap a recent trip my girlfriend & I made to Port Lincoln in South Australia:

We drove there and back & as it was a girl's trip, on the way back decided to stage a 'Thelma & Louise' moment (I guess you really had to be there!!) These photos were taken from a hill overlooking Eucla.

I've used my punches & Bigshot a lot to create embellishments for this layout - from the scallop border, title & my little journalling spot. The scallop border was created using the Tasteful Trim Die and and my Crop-A-Dile. I've also used my 5-Petal flower punch to punch out a flower from chipboard. this gave me a flower to use as an embellishment, plus I used the negative piece as another embellishment. Both pieces were run through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

Stampin' Up have a fabulous new Designer Frames embossing Folder set, so I though I would use it to create a little journalling spot. I first diecut an oval with the Ovals Die, then ran it through the ovals embossing folder to create the back. I don't know if you can really see the effect to well, but it has a raised border & a row of raised dots around the outside edge. The top layer was punched out using the extra large oval punch.

SAM October Challenge

Hey all! It's Stamp A Memory challenge time again! This month, the challenge was to scrap your fears. I had a hard time with this one - and I'm still to do the journalling for it!!

This is the page, ready for the journalling to go into the pocket:

 

I'm not afraid of creepy crawlies or anything like that (except perhaps cockroaches!!!). My fears are more of a personal nature - which is why I've created the pocket to contain my journalling.

I am a very shy & insecure person and one of my biggest fears is of never being able to fit in. I am also worried about never being good enough.  There are other fears I have, which I don't want to publicly state, some of which are fact and not fears unfortunately! I found it quite therapeutic to do this page though and I'm glad it is (almost) complete!

I wanted a vintage feel  for this layout, so I chose the 'Well Worn' Designer Series Paper - it was just perfect! And what do you think of the new lace border punch? Isn't it fabulous!! I can see I will be getting a lot of use out of that punch for sure!

SAM September Challenge

This month's challenge over at Stamp A Memory, is to scrap a top ten list. it can be favourite books, authors, places to visit - anything.  'Cos I just love my food  I chose to scrap my top ten favourite foods. And boy - what a hard job that was trying to narrow it down!!!

Here it is:

Sorry about the photo quality  but it is rather a dreary day here today and this is the best shot I could get!

I've used a couple of new products from the brand new 2011-2012 catalogue which is now out.

My banner has been made using the new Pennant Parade stampset, with the corresponding Petite Pennants Builder punch.

There are some fabulous new papers in the new catalogue. The one I have used here is called 'Just Add Cake' and I thought it was just perfect for this layout. It even has numbers running down one side!!!

Stamp A Memory August Challenge

It is Stamp A Memory's 2nd birthday, so the challenge this month is to scrap a celebration. I have scrapped a double layout of Candace's 18th birthday:

 

Because the photos were quite colourful, I've used papers from the Sweet & Sour Specialty collection and Wild Wasabi Cardstock to match (it looks a lot brighter in real life!!). My background was created by using one of the stamps from Circle Circus stamp set to randomly stamp over my background cardstock with Whisper White ink.

Do you like my scalloped border trims? I've made those by firstly using the scallop border punch on one long edge of cardstock, then I've created the holes with my crop-a-dile. Easy!!

SAM July Challenge

 
I can't believe it is July already!! Where is this year going - it is whizzing by sooo fast!!

The Stamp-A-Memory challenge this month was to create a layout based on this sketch from Pagemaps:

 

Using sketches is a great way to jumpstart your mojo, or to give yourself a starting point when you're not sure how you are going to scrap a particular photo/photos.

Here is my version of the sketch:

 

This is a photo of my hometown of York, taken around the 1930's. The fashions may have changed but the buildings are still the same and in use today!

I've stayed pretty faithful to the sketch for this layout, but really a sketch is just a starting point and you can interpret it however you want! Would love to see how you interpet this sketch into your own layout.
